| The 'Comparison of FARS and MCMIS: Large Trucks
Involved in Fatal Crashes by State' report identifies the number of large trucks
involved in fatal crashes as reported by each state for the most recent three years.
This report includes crashes that are reported by states to the FARS and MCMIS
systems. For many states, the numbers of large trucks involved in fatal crashes
reported in FARS and in MCMIS are not equal. This difference is calculated in the
column with the heading 'FARS-MCMIS % Difference'. The list is in alphabetical order by state. The list may be resorted by the FARS, MCMIS, and FARS-MCMIS % Difference columns by clicking on the underlined column headings, i.e., clicking on the column heading 2007, FARS will resort the list by the highest number of large trucks involved in fatal crashes reported by FARS in 2007. |

| Fatal crash - A crash where one or more persons dies within 30 days of the crash. The fatality does not have to occur at the scene of the crash. It includes any person involved in the crash, including pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as occupants of the passenger cars, trucks, and buses. |

reporting year, a calculation of the percent difference between the number of crashes reported
